ILMX023 History Repeats Itself

Illustration by Kevin Weir   Website | Tumblr | Vimeo

She followed me through the ages
troubled not by my distant silence
Deafened by her emphatic claims of affection
she did not hear me

While I led men across the Euphrates
she fought off suitors more amorous than I
Befitting though many were
her thundering heart beat for only one

The blood I shed at the summit of Pelion
was no match for her river of tears
The strength of fifty Argonauts
paled by her love in my passing

Vowing to Aphrodite above
she would not go back alone
For as long as history was doomed to repeat
she would forever propel to where I last stood

Artist Bio

  • When not having fun with graphics and animation, Kevin Weir spends his time as an art director for the New York ad agency, Droga5.
  • Kevin’s mind-bending, surrealist art is most evident in his Flux Machine series of animated gifs, which breathe life into long-dead folks captured in turn-of-the-century photographs. It’s through Flux Machine that I was captured by Kevin’s sublime sense of humour and a shared affinity for vintage photos.
  • Kevin’s many random projects are all worth checking out through his website. You can also catch snippets of his finest work on Tb & Vm, and you can catch up with him otherwise on Tw & Ig.
